Sleep Hygiene

Sleep studies are worthwhile if you have a severe problems as it identifies reasons that may be treatable (e.g. sleep apnoea).

  1. Never use IT in bedroom
  2. Avoid white light in last half hour before sleep
  3. Save the bedroom for sleep and enjoyment
  4. Avoid a TV in the bedroom
  5. Minimise food intake in the hours before bed
  6. Exercise at least an hour before sleep
  7. Get up if awake after 20 minutes
  8. Stay up 20 minutes (current guidelines)
